The Waterbury Naugatuck River Greenway kick-off meeting was held on Thursday April 30, 2009 at Kennedy High School and was well attended by over 120 members of the community, including Mayor Jarjura.

Participants were organized in tables to discuss their ideas about potential routes for the trail, as well as themed ideas for issues ranging from maintenance, environmental conservation, transportation, recreation and community connections.  At the end of the meeting, representatives from the working groups came forward and shared their top priority concepts with the audience.  Participants ranged from UConn students, bicycle commuters, landowners, kayak advocates and citizens who have supported the idea of the project for many years.  The City’s Greenway Advisory Committee helped facilitate the meeting and will be working with the consulting team as the study moves forward.
